Technique: Here the firing up and cooling down process is speeded up. The firing is done in a gas Kiln in the courtyard of the studio. The bisque fired and glazed clay vessels are placed in the Kiln and fired. The kiln quickly reaches a temperature of 1100° c. The vessels are then taken out with tongs and put in a tindrum with sawdust and leaves. The smoke which results from this combines with the glazes which have in them copper oxide and copper carbonate. This produces special crackling and metallic red and green color effects. Every piece is unique.
